Our CSR policy

OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE DRIVE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS FOCUSED ON BOTH PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT

OUR POLICY IS BASED
ON 5 GUIDING
PRINCIPLES

Through our actions as an environmentally responsible steward of forest areas, we have a positive contribution to make towards achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since their establishment in 2015, these have created a framework for action, an awareness-raising tool in relation to CSR issues, a source of economic opportunities and a way of boosting cooperation between all stakeholders. These SDGs have informed the implementation of our company’s CSR policy.

Commitment 1

to respect human rights, principles of good corporate governance and good business ethics

In accordance with SDGs 5,8,13 and16, our commitment involves respect for the human rights of our workforce and all stakeholders, encouraging our partners to adopt principles and practices that align with ours, adhering to an ethical approach to doing business on a day-to-day basis and combating corruption effectively.

Commitment 2

to promote our employees’ personal and professional development and well-being and encourage community development

In accordance with SDGs 2,3,4,5,8,10 and 17, our commitment centres around the implementation of carefully devised workplace health and safety initiatives, upskilling our employees and promoting job satisfaction. Likewise, we make an active contribution towards the socio-economic development of the areas where we work by making access to healthcare, education and employment for young people and women a priority.

Commitment 3

to protect the environment and biodiversity

In accordance with SDGs 6,14,15 and 17, our commitment focuses on protecting biodiversity, preventing or reducing pollution of all kinds, implementing energy saving measures and mitigating global warming, promoting partnerships with government and local stakeholders to create significant added environmental value.

Commitment 4

to enhance forest ecosystem services

As a sustainable forest management practitioner, we work on a day-to-day basis to preserve biodiversity, water resources and recreational services, to maintain soil health and implement carbon capture and storage. All of these are examples of vital services provided to society by forests. Our commitment consists of promoting research into and the development of forest ecosystem services.

Commitment 5

to reduce our carbon footprint by adopting a more eco-friendly approach

In accordance with SDGs 7,8,9,11,12,13 and 17, our commitment involves performing a greenhouse gas emissions assessment of all our activities, increasing the use of sustainable materials and renewable energy on all our sites, boosting the circular economy, promoting energy efficiency and improving our environmental performance through more research and increased innovation.
